Almost as good as a comedy club

My mother has been admitted to a rehab center, not for substance abuse, but to regain strength in her legs.  She just spent two weeks in the hospital and never got out of the bed.  Therefore the rehab unit was the logical choice.

This center, located in Dublin, VA, gets a very high rating from Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  Not only is it a rehab but also a nursing home for those that can't be cared for at home.

Sunday evening, my wife and I went to the center to help my mother eat her dinner.  She has difficulty holding a fork or spoon in her hand.  She was seated in the dining area at a table with about eight other older ladies.  About half way through the meal, one woman asks if she can have hot coffee.  The aide tells her they only have tea.  Well, how about some hot tea, to which the aide said that would be fine.  That is all it took as then each and every other lady wanted hot tea too.  Up until that point no one had asked for anything and was eating in peace.

Reminded me of a bunch of children.  What one wants and gets, they all want.  It is comical just to sit back and watch the interaction.

Is it an IPAD or an ITOP?

It finally arrived.  I had ordered the device in December, prior to Christmas, but the demand has been so great that it took almost eight weeks to arrive.  It is called the "BRYDGE" specifically designed for the IPAD.

This is the BRYDGE.  It is a bluetooth keyboard with speakers.  As you can see from the photo the two clips are designed for the IPAD to slide into and be held firmly in place.

This of course is the IPAD without any case.  I have been using a Targus protective case designed for the IPAD.

This is both devices together.  Once hooked together it is simply a matter of turning on the power switch for the BRYDGE and going through the settings of the IPAD.  After a couple of keystrokes on the BRYDGE it will be discovered by the IPAD and is now fully operational.

This what the devices look like when the IPAD is closed on top of the BRYDGE.  I must say this makes typing and listening to tunes much easier.  Of course if you just want to the IPAD by itself, simply pull up on the device and it easily slips from the hooks on the BRYDGE.

Just go to www.thebrydge.com to view the video of this device.

Fantastic Book!!!

I have downloaded and have been reading "America the Beautiful" by Dr. Ben Carson.  I have been reading it on and off for several weeks and thoroughly enjoy this writer.

The interesting writing of this man is that he and his brother were raised by a single mom in the city of Detroit.  He is now the Chief of Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Carson is also featured in a You Tube video at this years National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC.  Everyone should take the time and view the video as it also is compelling. "We've Reached A Point Where People Are Actually Afraid To Say What They Want To Say" Ben Carson.

He is an inspiring human being.  A true man of God!

St. George's Episcopal Church

I made my first trip to Fredericksburg, VA last weekend.  It is an old city north of Richmond, VA.  While there I was fortunate to take a walk around and into a rather old church in the Historic District of the city.

Church was established in 1720.  Fifty-six years prior to the Declaration of Independence

Inside the sanctuary.  Beautiful arches and stained glass windows.

Massive pipes for the organ

Pews that have doors, which I have seen at a church in Williamsburg

Stained glass window

It is truly amazing how large the interior of the church appeared.  To build a church that large many years ago  did take master craftsmen.  It is awe inspiring when you walk into the sanctuary of that church.  I am glad I took the time to visit.
